Before you read:
I am open to your beliefs and ideas. Please give me feedback on what you think. I do not intend this letter to be militant or offensive in any way shape or form.

To Whom It May Concern,

I would love nothing more to believe in a higher being with a heaven waiting for me. I would love nothing more to live in the clouds with my deceased ancestors and my dead gerbils from third grade. I would love nothing more to create rainbows with Jesus. I would love nothing more to believe in god.
But I don’t.

The simple reason why is it doesn’t make sense. Time and time again I have tried to understand these things that make people believe. I have to say my conclusion (not final) is stupidity. People just can’t understand the facts and fallacies of their religions. It makes no sense of what they are saying or believing. This goes for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, you name it.

I could go on for hours about the bible contradicting itself, the bible containing very offensive topics, or even to the extent explaining the theories of evolution and the big bang (both of which I have a very basic understanding of). I have tried this with many people before, but it has failed on numerous occasions.

To understand me though first you have to understand where I am coming from. I consider myself intelligent. I am not saying there is no god or higher being, I am saying there is no YOUR GOD. You don’t have proof of him or it and you most certainly don’t an interpersonal relationship with him. My reasoning comes from pure logic. You don’t believe in Santa Claus because the only proof you have of him is that there was presents under your tree (from a mysterious source). I don’t believe in god because the simple proof of him is in a big, factually incorrect and insulting book. You found out about god the same way you probably found out about Santa Claus, except you probably stopped the belief in Santa, but kept that childish view of your kingdom in the sky. I’m going out on a limb saying this but if the bible is proof of god, then “Harry Potter” is proof of magic.

If you are part of a religion, don’t think I don’t understand where your coming from. I know you take comfort in your god. If you die and there is a heaven, you got there because you believed. If you die and there is nothing, there’s nothing you can do.

I’d personally not take a chance like that, I’d rather not believe in your god because there is no proof. I would however believe in him/it if him/it showed proof of themselves/itself and as of now, there isn’t. So why should I believe?

Sincerely,
Kyle

P.S. - Again, you can choose to disregard anything I say here. This is not an insult to anyone. It could be an insult to me. Who knows? I could be smitten from the sky right after I hit publish. Chances are, if you’re reading this I didn’t. I’ll certainly let you know if I did.

P.S.S - And just to reiterate. There is a high possibility of a higher power. As a human I am still left with a lot of questions. What could have driven these systems to occur. And again, as of now, my brain doesn’t have the capacity to visualize infinity, and it certainly doesn’t have the power to visualize god. Neither does yours.
